They are indeed, and the photographers even if they don't see themselves as being top of the pops. lol

Proud Nikon owner and user X#X (With a bit of Sigma thrown in for the long range lol ).

Alf, get the one that feels comfortable to you, both in the hands, and also the logic of the menu system and button placement.

Don't worry about which make is "best", as that changes frequently.

Get the best that you can afford as what Dewi said is right, once you get into photography it won't be long before you want to upgrade! O**

I can't take any pictures ;-)

The camera will be for SO and that's where the problems are. :-0

Our camera is now 6 years old and the battery is giving problems, when we started finding out how much a new battery cost we were told that Panasonic were no longer making new cameras 0*\

Ok after some time looking around and different products available i have decided on the following

Canon 700D camera with 18-55mm lense and a 75-300mm (both canon lenses)

Any comments or advice -O-

I think that is probably a good starting point.

If the bug bites hard, she will probably want to replace the lenses with something better before long, but untill she has some idea of what direction she wants to focus on, that can't happen.
