Thanks very much nan, Flutterby, Amoli and Richprins for your comments.

I must say again that the service I received from Mario, a warden at Rietvlei, was really fantastic.

Some more birds that I saw:

Black shouldered kite.

Cape longclaw with its breakfast.

Rufus naped lark giving me a show of a lifetime just as the sun came out.

Last few to follow.

I took a drive through this morning to see how the rains have affected the reserve.
The animals were very absent... -O- and the areas around the rivers and dams very muddy.
Some dirt roads were closed and the ones I travelled were well maintained. \O

Otterdam is closed off completely due to overflowing water, and you had to drive via Vlei road to the coffee shop.

I saw the Buzzard twice. I only took pics the second time as I wanted to get to close the first time and scared it off. 0*\
The second pics were great far distance blurry's. :-0 :-0

Otterdam

Saw a Pied Starling with munchies and I remembered the Liquoice all sorts in the cubby... hmm. :-)

Image

A drove around to the other side of Otterdam and had the view all to myself. O/\

A nice size fishy caught - that should fill him well. Time for the lunch-bar chockie.
