A quick snack at the coffee shop and we headed out for a drive.

Down to the Island View Hide but nothing to see there.

In the area was a Stonechat.

And a Black-Breasted Snake Eagle.

At Otter Dam I managed to snap a Yellowbilled Duck taking off.

Rhinos in the sunset.

We ended up at Coot's Corner Hide (?) and chatted with one of the Rietvlei Game Guides who was there.

Movement on the shoreline caught our attention. A brand new species of mammal for us!

Marsh Mongoose! O/\ O/\ O/\ O\/ O\/

We sat for a while longer and only saw some Cattle Egrets and Gyppos flying in to roost.

Then we went home.


Hunting cannot be considered a sport as all contestants in a sport should know they are playing the game!

Nice sighting of the Eagle and great capture of the Mongoose!! \O \O

The camaroptera has a longer and black bill :-? On the other hand I have no better proposal, too much green for a Neddicky 0*\
