Re: Rietvlei Nature Reserve through Greenies' Eyes
I spent a couple of hours at Rietvlei yesterday morning. Didn't see anything very exciting and saw fewer birds than expected but it was still nice to be out.
Not sure of this one...Lesser Swamp-warbler maybe?
Three-banded Plover
Southern Red Bishop - still getting it's full mating feathers.
Cape Longclaw
Red-collared Widowbird, also rather scuffy-looking.
I think this is also a widowbird, just not sure which one.
This longclaw chose a colour co-ordinated perch!
What's a visit to Rietvlei without encountering some rhino.
Rufous-naped Lark?
Blesbok enjoying the shade.
More to follow.

The birds in SA are still on their way... to where or whatever
But nevertheless, I like those rough looking bishop as well as the widowbird.
After all they are the herald of and to your summer ( )
Great stuff, Flutts

Interesting studies of the changeover in the male birds, Flutts!
The rhino look a bit skinny!
I like the longclaw fashion pic!

Long-tailed Widowbird
Another Widowbird?
Now you see it...
...now you don't.
Southern Masked Weaver

I think this is a Pipit, just have to work out which one!
