How come that I always have the feeling that every initiative taken is late and overdue and could have made a diffence 12 or 24 months ago?

It has been established that the loss of a cow has a multiple effect since it also includes the loss of a dependant calf and future calves.

No shit! And it is far worse for territorial bulls, time-wise. O/

Sorry, but this initiative is pointless and incredibly expensive, as the biggest threat now is staff members and "tourists" colluding with poachers.

🇿🇦 Poisoning Rhino horns to save species in South Africa

Al Jazeera English
Pubblicato il 15 mag 2019

The survival of the rhino is under threat.
That is according to the World Wildlife Fund, which says that more than 8,000 rhinos have been poached for their horns since 2010.
They are killed to meet the high demand for horns in Asia.
But in South Africa, the staff at a wildlife reserve say they have found a way to try and save the species.
Al Jazeera's Ijeoma Ndukwe reports.

There has been talks about this before, but it seemed not to work -O-

It has been suggested before, but some said it would be murder of people. Personally I think it is a great idea! X#X

The poachers won't care about the poisoning initially, but word will get to the Chinese!

Kevin Pietersen has set up his own charity, SORAI (Save our Rhino’s in Africa and India) to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned or injured rhinos.
There are already too many. Why can't they all cooperate and the anti-poaching ONGs would be much more efficient and powerful.

A good question, Lis. I think they do sort of cooperate, but it is not necessarily a bad thing to be individuals either, as the corrupt will come running as soon as they smell serious money. O-/
