Projects, partnerships?

Post by Leopard »

Hello,

I am a new member. I would like to ask the administration if and where can I post looking for projects or partnerships that I can start with, join, work for, invest on.

Im a vet, entrepeneur, die hard conservationist and I was born for the bush.

Thanks!

Hello Leopard and welcome to the forum \O

Africa Wild is exclusively dedicated to wildlife and conservation and to keeping the natural parks and reserves "green" and uncommercialised.

If you want to participate in the forum life, you are more than welcome, but any kind of business must be done in a strictly private way and not on the open forum \O

and now go out and have fun "in the bush" ;-)

Hi Lisbeth, thanks for your reply and thank you for the warm welcome!

Ohh no, I didnt mean it like that! Im just looking for opportunities, not trying to conduct business at all. I have been trying to get in the area for some time now. Travelling, tons of emails... Ngo's never reply and bigger institutions and governments dont care. Can you help me out, maybe suggest something?

Thanks!

Maybe if you explain exactly what you are looking for and what you want to do/work with/participate in etc. then it will be easier to help you \O

It is holiday season in South Africa and not only Christmas, so a lot of members are absent.

Hello Leopard 0/* Seja bem-vindo !

If you want to help and contribute to conservation, have a look at this topic viewforum.php?f=20 where you can find projects supported by Africa Wild members.

Bom Dia, Leopard! X#X

Yes, as Lis and them say, look around a bit and use the search function until you find something?

Over the years we have indeed assisted in linking prospective volunteers/pros with the relevant causes/facilities, and have a few contacts!

Are you an actual portugoose, or expat?

Hello again!

Merry christmas!

Im portuguese yes.
During the last year I sold a very successful business I had here in Portugal in order to search for projects, attend courses and start something. I have been in Zimbabwe, Kenya, ZA and Mozambique. The latter was the one I had my biggest hopes on but there are so many interests and corruption I just couldnt get in even after months of emails, meeting people, attending conferences. Its sad because they need the biggest guidance and new ideas.
As I am a specialist at starting and driving new projects, in my mind the ideal situation during this time was to start and own a ecotourism project in a place where things are not so easy (not mainstream) and where more work needs to be done, for example in new founded or restored conservation areas. Since im not money driven, the idea in the long run was to use a significant part of the profits and put it back into correct management, anti-poaching technology and research.
At this point after all the effort, time and travel not paying off im kinda about to give up. I would like to look back a few decades from now and say I did my part, so still trying.

Thanks

Wherever you go in Africa (and third world Asia too), you'll have to fight against corruption, which is like O/ and unfortunately, the wall is stronger than any head.

Dindingwe is French but living and working (I think) in Mozambique. Maybe he can give you some advice. South Africa seems to be improving with the new President, but for the time being only at the top level, locally nothing has changed as yet.

Have you tried to contact "Conservation Action Trust" https://conservationaction.co.za/ ?
