I was so excited to see this bird in my garden yesterday.... O/\ O/\ A lifer.

I honestly thought I would have to return to our eastern shores to see one of these Thick-billed Weavers until I read my bird book yesterday. They are quite common in Gauteng. O:V

According to my book that is right Lis. Eastern shores, then up north to Zim and Zambie.
