Garden Bird Pictures
Re: Garden Bird Pictures
so......
you might remember a while back i had two grey headed bush shrikes
on a hunting spree outside my window........
they carried out this carnage for about three weeks ..
then they disappeared as suddenly as they had appeared.
at that time we had experienced a series of storms accompanied by high winds.
then one late afternoon, i heard their familiar feeding calls
i looked out and to my surprise and dismay i spotted their chick hopping about on the ground below
.
we have a large amount of feral cats on the property and if this little one was going to be grounded
then he would not see the next sunrise
luckily for him he was able to flit about over short distances
.
.
.
.
and he found his way onto the railing of the deck below
.
.
.
.
where a frenzied feeding opportunity was able to take place
.
.
.
.
.
.
from there he was able to make his way higher up into the safety of the branches...
.
the future is not what it used to be

We had one in our garden in Randburg for a couple of seasons about 2 years ago. I haven't heard it recently though.Super Mongoose wrote:Wow, how lucky can one be having "Spookvoëls" in your backyard!
Great pics Leachy
Hunting cannot be considered a sport as all contestants in a sport should know they are playing the game!

For the first time ever we had an owl in our garden last night, but we could only hear it, not see it!! I've tried to ID the call, but can't find a match.
