It sounded like either a Scops Owl or Southern Whitefaced Owl, but are either of these found in Jhb? :-?

While packing my car for the holidays, I heard a shreak sound from the garden and investigated.

It was a thick-billed weaver feeding a juvenile. The juv. was flapping it's wings and screaching hunger calls... :-0 :-0

I wouldn't dismiss the idea of it being fledgling. Last time in KTP I was surprised how big the little ones were
and they were still begging for food (wings flapping and all). As soon as mum or dad were gone, they were
perfectly able to forage themselves. 0-
