Every morning I put biscuits out for the dogs and the birds all wait for their turn!
Laughing Doves waiting on the gutter
Karoo Thrush waiting on the kennel
Hadeda waiting on the roof
Female Southern Masked Weaver waiting in the tree
Laughing Doves are first at the bowl
Then the Thrush
Then one of the Laughing Doves is joined by a couple of Cape Turtle Doves
I also put fruit out. This Cape Sparrow had a bit of fluff stuck on his beak and was shaking his head trying to get it off!
We normally also have Redwinged Starlings, Cape Glossy Starlings, Dark Capped Bulbuls and Indian Mynahs but they were a bit slow today!

The birds eat more than the dogs...and make more mess than the dogs too!! Yes Lis, the dogs get more if the birds eat it all, which is normally everyday!

As long as the dogs don't protest against their food being stolen.
Like that! Find the idea quite funny how the birdies queue up like we do for accomm in SP.

Re: Garden Bird Pictures
Got myself a better shot of a serin at my parents' last weekend.
The little one kept me entertained for quite some time with its antics.
This one - a common whitethroat - gave me a hard time photographing it.
And at long last, I finally saw a jaybird again. A very blurred one though.

Wow Flutterby you sure have quite a collection of visitors to your garden.
We put out the following:
A mixture of wild bird seed and mielie rice.
Some fruit
Bonemeal.
Hi Mel, nice shots of the serin, looks something like our yellow-fronted canary.

Great shots of your birdies Flutts. We find the doves love the dog food
Mel, I love your birdies also. The serin is not one we would find in SA.
The white-front has a nice worm to chew on.
