In my garden, but it was initially found hiding in my outside toilet area. Suburb Sea Point, Western Cape. Any idea what it is and what I should do with it?

I live in the suburb of Sea Point, Western Cape and this was found in my outside toilet area resting on an empty sandbag, how it got there I do not know, I have left it on the sandbag but moved it into my garden area, but left it hidden from prey and left it to do whatever it wants.
Thanks for the swift reply, it measures approx 3 inches in length.
Curious as to what species it is....

Simon
This is a Tree Locust, Anacridium moestum.
Just put it somewhere outside and it will find a foodplant.
BTW: It is edible

Googled Tree Locust and this species did not seem to match the images that came up?

Hi Simoncpt - welcome!
Compare your pic with those found in our AW Invertebrate Book for Grasshopper and Locusts: Anacridium moestum Tree Locust

Looks pretty spot on. What do you think?
