Yes! If SP do the restaurants they can have more money stay in the Lowveld instead of going to the franchises in Gauteng and elsewhere! \O

If Sanparks has outsourced the restaurants and shops, it's because they earn more that way, if not it would have no sense -O-

That is absolutely on the cards, okie! Privatisation of all tourism services. Then we will pay for accommodation like you won't believe!

Not against any law, Lis! It surprises me that SP have sharply got off their high horse about BEE companies getting preferential treatment re restaurants and picnic spots. See franchises, Afsaal and Tshokwane. There is no reason to believe this will not become a greater issue, and the hotels mess suggests once "cooldrink money" has changed hands, the enterpreneurs can move in! \O

A scary thought O-/

Sanparks is the manager of the National Parks, not the owner. There must be a limit to what they can do :-?

The Kruger National Park and other parks likewise,
are state asset!!! Intermediates cannot be allowed to
run the show!! .Gov must come to the table for clarity!!

Who feeds who what, a question I frequently asked at
the round table in Groenkloof, only to be looked upon!!

Private enterprise may seem the way, however short term
only. It's becoming a hand me down problem,....

Of course the franchises will portray happiness until it is
too late for the landlord to act. Sanparks are here actually
telling the world out there how useless they are
yet still get away with this honorary upstand!!
They have lost the plot and so .gov for lapping it all up in all
"good faith",..

quite a tidy sum indeed.....

Must admit I prefer the franchise restaurants now to what we were getting for the last decade of Sanparks running the restaurants. The prices are no more than what I would pay in Gauteng and quality has improved from previous.
The argument of money not remaining in Lowveld to me is moot as a lot of money generated by Kruger is spent on other parks in other areas anyway. Am sure some fresh produce is still sourced locally , staff are local and if goods are transported from Gauteng would be paying for tolls and fuel in Lowveld.

I reckon they are making a bigger profit now without any of the headaches than what they were getting with the previous running of restaurants as people were avoiding the restaurants because of quality and service and costs. The less numbers = less profits as you still had to maintain the staff compliments etc.
