In principle, perhaps, Flutts...
But a lot of workers earning a living at hunting farms would have no idea what that means?

Re: 78 000 want US lion hunter banned from SA
Hmmmmm...... the workers may benefit from a kudu , or buffalo , or golden gemsbok , in that the shooter may keep the horns and the skin , but give the meat and innards/guts to the workers . This happens often , especially when the shooter is from overseas . Therefore , it makes sense that the whole animal is utilised .
But , a live lion , kills the valuable kudu , and if the lion is shot , then the shooter takes the skin , and head to mount over his fireplace , but the rest is discarded , so there is no real benefit to the worker . Of course , the boss-man may give the workers a little something extra because the lion was sold/shot for a tidy R300 000 ....... .
Oh , and another benefit coming out of this , is that the shooter satisfies his lust for killing

Trophy hunting and canned hunting enables individuals to enact out lethal violence on an animal for nothing more than to satisfy their own sadistic pleasure and distorted ego-driven self-gratification. They are psychologically unsound people whose behaviour has no place in free society. THERE IS NO ARGUMENT EITHER MORAL OR ECONOMIC TO JUSTIFY THRILL KILLING.
Until I draw my last breath I will fight this abhorrent, depraved behaviour every single day in whatever way I can.

To stretch the point about what is brutal or not...inevitably that lion will either get maimed, slowly killed, or partially eaten alive by other lions...or die of starvation...an excrutiating process that does not make the headlines!
No, I say let them go quickly.

And venison hunting then also part of the natural cycle?
Humans are actually part of nature, contrary to popular belief!

The hunting for venison is certainly part of the natural cycle .Richprins wrote:And venison hunting then also part of the natural cycle?
Humans are actually part of nature, contrary to popular belief!
But hunting and then preserving the victim is not natural . ( A lion does not make a keepsake of the impala's carcass )
Man/human is part of nature , and many of his actions still relate to his naturalness and instinct . But many things and actions have evolved away from nature , such as the need to possess things .
And whereas animals show dominance ( usually sexual ) , by strutting and dancing , man , in some instances , display his dominance ( like over an enemy ) , by displaying that enemy's body where it may then be homaged by being admired for its courage and beauty . In this form it is still a display by a rather primitive man/person , for primitive reasons .
However , taken further , in a more refined/civilised form , displaying of the enemy's body can take in the form of painting , or a sculpture , and more recently , in the form of a photograph
This is the form of display in art galaries etc , but goes further , where it is being idolised , raised up to the status of gods , and placed in temples , etc .
