Rules for Pic of the Month

Post by Flutterby »

1) As we cannot have a poll for more than 30 pictures, should there be more than 30 nominations Mods will PM those members who have been nominated to choose his/her best pics (2-3 pics each depending on the number of nominations).

2) Manipulated (including HDR & B&W) pictures may be nominated.

3) Only pictures taken in Africa can be nominated.

4) You cannot nominate your own picture.

5) You can change your vote if you wish to do so.

6) A picture can only be nominated once.

Rules amended 8 August 2015.

As from May 2012, if there is a tie for 1st place, no pics will be awarded 2nd place. Similarly, if there is a tie for 2nd place, no pics will be awarded 3rd place.

If there is a 3-way tie for first place, no pics will be awarded 2nd or 3rd place.

Guys, just a reminder that you can only nominate pics taken in Africa for the Bird/Animal & Landscape Pic of the Month.

For the Travel Tales Pic of the Month, you can nominate pics from anywhere in the world. \O

Hi Flutterby - Does this include Photoshopped photos?

Hi STF,

I think most of the pics posted here are "photoshopped" to some degree or other. I'm sure most of us do some processing like adjusting the light, changing the saturation, cropping etc. to enhance them. But some pics are "overworked" and you can normally see it straight away as they no longer look natural. In these cases, I would rather not have them nominated. \O

HI Flutterby. Thanks for the explanation. My personal opinion is that photos should be judged as they are without enhancements as this then shows the true ability of the photographer. But with all the tools available today it must be very hard not to be tempted into manipulating a photo in some way or another. Even I do it with the Canon programme my son in law downloaded for me.

Thanks once again for the explanation. \O :O^ :O^ :O^

A suggestion:

The forums have grown massively over the past year, and one may see a nominated pic of the month, and have no clue from which thread it comes? -O-

Maybe add a link to that thread if it's not "obvious", so to speak?

So copy the url at the top of the browser page! \O

0()

And ja.."obvious" is a difficult interpretation! ^0^
