Malelane Rest Camp
Malelane Camp is a smallish camp situated between Malelane Gate and Berg-en-Dal camp. Malelane visitors must book in at Malelane Gate. It consists of a camping section and a few bungalows.
Re: Malelane Rest Camp
There are 3 and 4 bed bungalows (BG3 or BG4).
BG3 #1:
There is only a fridge in the bungalow, but there is of course a communal kitchen.
Malelane is the southern most camp in Kruger and there is the real southern most Baobab

We stayed in the BG3 on Friday (14th), the unit is well maintained and has lots of space. It is a pleasant camp, but our visit was spoild by the noise comming from over the river to the south. Both local population and traffic noise. In the end, as we could not hear any night sounds we went inside. Shame really.

Re: Malelane Rest Camp
This is one of the first camps in Kruger (1930). It is in a diverse scenic area, from riverine vegetation to mountainous terrain to rolling plains. Game can be scarce as with much of the south, although animals congregate on the Crocodile River during the dry season.
Drawbacks include a view over sugar cane farms to the south, and a limited road selection around the camp.
What to look for:
White rhino, zebra
Marula tree
Fish Eagle
From this weekend:
The campsite runs behind the bungalows, all along the fence!
Some nice trees, and enough power points. Maybe 10 campsites, depending on how things pan out?
A lovely lawn, and view of the Croc River...lots of camps are losing their lawns, unfortunately!
The huts are neat and renovated a few years ago. Utensils and bathrooms included, as well as aircon.
The communal kitchen is not really necessary for dishwashing etc. (You can leave your dirty dishes on the table outside... ) There are actually two "kitchens", one building with an oven and the other a lapa with hotplates. (Both with sinks)
Also a large communal ablutions building.

Re: Malelane Rest Camp
The Malelane Ranger's post is top left. And Staff quarters dominate the western side of the camp!
BTW, Malelane was officially changed to Malalane a year or two ago, regarding the town outside Kruger, for some reason!?
