Pafuri Tented Camp is a private camp situated along the banks of the Luvuvhu river, on the other side, and a bit upstream, of Pafuri Picnic site, in the far north of Kruger. The private concession, going up to the Limpopo river, is the largest in the park (24.000 hectares), and is home to the richest biodiversity, with 75 % of the species of the park present here.
The Camp has 19 tents, all with a view on the river, where one can see Buffalos and Elephants. The fauna include the big 5, and also rare animals, such as Elands and Bushpigs. The area is famous for its birding opportunities.

Re: Pafuri Tented Camp
Thank you very much, Dindingwe Strange that we did not have it already, but most likely because it's a private camp Anyway I will put it into the index all the same

Re: Pafuri Tented Camp
Do you by chance have an idea of the cost and of what is included?

Re: Pafuri Tented Camp
Yes, it is 3.795 Rands per night per person (2017) but there are special rates for South African residents. It is rather expensive, but it is a nice camp and I think it is one of the cheapest private camp within Kruger.
All the meals are included (light and quick breakfast before the morning drive, a substantial brunch after the drive, tea break in the afternoon, and dinner at night), as well as two activities per day (usually game drives, but it can be a walk too). If you arrive by air, the transfer from and to the airstrip is also included (but not the plane fare of course !). Park entrance fees and alcoholic beverages are not included.
Check-in is at 2:00 pm, so you can have the tea in the afternoon shortly after arrival, and check-out is at 11:00 am, so you can have the brunch before leaving.
The camp is not fenced but there is a elevated wooden walkway to go to the tents.
The real advantage of the camp is that it is the only one (with The Outpost which is far more expensive) in this area and you have access to their concession with guided tours. It is especially good to see birds in the forest around the camp. But if you are not a birder, I think you can stay at Punda Maria and visit the Pafuri area for the day, to see the animals around (what I used to do before and will do again).

Re: Pafuri Tented Camp
Thank you very much
I presume that even if you are alone, they make you pay for two persons. Can you do self drives if you feel like it? Sorry, I can just go onto their site, have a look and ask them

Wow, it really looks lovely there!
Can you self-drive or can you only go on the guided game-drives?
