One of the most popular hides in the park, Lake Panic Hide is located in a game rich (and therefore crowded) area of the park, there are only eight cars allowed at a time. The hide overlooks a large dam in the very beautiful Sabie River.

How to get there:
Skukuza Rest Camp is the closest camp to Lake Panic. From Skukuza, drive out to the four-way stop and turn right onto the H11. After 4 km, turn right onto the S42 and follow this little road for 1.5km until you reach the hide.

GPS coordinates: -24.98137, 31.56618

Stopped at Lake Panic for the first time ever on my recent trip. :o0ps:
Was a bit dissapointed. Don't know what I was expecting, but I have heard a lot about this hide.
Part of my gripe was that it was very busy and the solitude of the place was lost with the constant flow of people in and out with the chatter that came with it.

It gets crowded during peak times, Dzombo, like everything in the South!

Hence the rule "No more than 8 Vehicles"...

Maybe it should be brought down to 5 vehicles? Was there a few days ago, and always 8 vehicles, 9 the last time... O**

Sprocky has a leopard pic from the hide, I think! \O

Have been there several times (not during school holidays) and it's very often crowded and noisy. If the no noise rule was enforced some people would not sit there for hours O**

I have, but it's on my old PC, will have to hunt for it.
