kept a careful eye on him every night whilst braaing - although he was very happy to ignore us.

In the distance but not often seen, a black and white rhino together. Two black rhinos fighting for dominance - pride of eight lion lying watching them, when the white Rhino came down and broke Up the fight. The older black Rhino left the younger to face the white Rhino

Our experience is that we sight more animals here per Km driven than anywhere else.

During our Oct 2009 visit we only missed the Leopard of the big 5 all in close proximity to Mpila Camp during a three day visit.

During our Febr 2011 visit the growth was very dense resulting in poorer sightings but it was still worth our while visiting the area for two days.

Haven't been there in many years....how does it compare to Kruger in terms of game, camps, roads etc?

Hey FB,

I was there for 3 days in June and spotted lion everyday, but missed leopard twice.

We did however have wild dog chase a scrub hare under our bakkie, had wild dog and hyena fighting on a kill and found 22 dogs crossing the imfolozi river while we were sitting at a view point watching.

During the same 3 days we found 4 cheetah and had hyena and bushpig visiting us every night at our unit.

I have done 3 trips in the last 12 months and have seen 4 of the big 5 each time, including dogs and cheetah each time, but haven't found leopard.

They must have also been the reason for our leopard issues in KNP 3 weeks ago

Imfolozi management also changed their book in time to 2pm, but listened to their clients and compromised to 1pm. They have also fixed their prices for 2012. Makes one think.

Reception very good.
Service reasonable, not much in shops.
Gravel roads were good, tar had a few potholes.
Game viewing good.
The only problem we had was the roads getting there, the Piet Retief - Pongola road was poor in 2009 and shocking in February 2011.
In 2009 we returned via Ulundi and the road was good, 2011 we returned via Nongoma, never again.
