A pity that you did not find the cheetahs :-( They do not stay put at the same place as lions do ;-)

That day we did not find them but found them or other cheetahs two days later O** O** O**

The eagle looks like a black-chested snake-eagle to me

Great photo of the dragonfly, it's a male Violet Dropwing ^Q^
You might be right with the black chested snake eagle \O

at least we again had a lot of fun in watching them

Image

Image

and a couple of bulls could be seen as well as latecomer following the herds with a distance.

Image

A quick stop at Nsemani revealed a slowly floating crocodile

Image

and close to the corner with the S12 we spotted a noisy korhaan which we already met funnily last year there at nearly the same spot.

Image

Funny was also that we again spotted a black mamba whizzing across the road as yesterday we also saw one there. Not so funny was then the elephant herd blocking the road under the huge tree nearly at Girivana

Image

and after we gave them enough space all of them cleared the road and went straight to the waterhole or better to say to the huge pond close to the waterhole

Image

Image

to take a drink or splash a bit around with the water.

Impalas were around as well but gave also the elephants right the way and as the light was simply brilliant we took a lot of pictures as it was such a peaceful scene with all the elephants around

Image

who then after finished their routine carried on their walk.

Image

We only saw whilst taking a second look the huge crocodile taking a sunbath right at the place where the elephants only recently were drinking

Image

and finally also a grey heron dared to come to the edge of the pond and also a group of ground hornbills were hanging around as well but stayed nearly the whole time out of sight so no shot.

Image

As the light at the waterhole was now starting to fade quickly we carried on and stopped for a starling with a huge kill right on the road

Image

and also more elephants could be seen during we drove back to camp.

Image

Image

Overall it was an extreme quiet day but nevertheless we enjoyed that area always a lot although we decided to give a couple of other roads tomorrow a try and after another delicious braai we went to bed and were lucky that neither huge bugs nor large moths were disturbing us on that evening on our verandah.

Monday, 16. February 2020 – Satara

Roads we gave a try: H1-4 – H7 – S40 – S12 – H7 – S36 – S125 – H1-3 – H6 – S41 – S100 - H1-4 – 1-3

The next morning started with a beautiful and misty sunrise

Image

and at that early stage we simply love the peaceful scenes with the impalas and wildebeests as this is so typical Kruger for us – Sigh.

Image

to be continued………
