Browns in Kruger - August 2019 (JHB Clan)
Re: Browns in Kruger - August 2019 (JHB Clan)
Hey boet, catching up
That’s an awesome spot at Marloth
Great sable spot by Kelly
Some good leopard sightings and I’m sure I recognise those wild dog spot patterns
OSV tool
Those leopard traffic jams in the south , I try and duck them now as it can ruin the mood/day if it goes pear shaped.
Lucky civet cruising around
Leopard juniors Fantastic sighting The mom moved them to the S25, just east of the Mlambane low water bridge 6 weeks later, not sure now.

20th August 2019
After Roxy and Kelly had left we went back to Marloth to pack as we were leaving the next morning. The plan was for a short evening drive, so that we were ready for the next day’s drive home. Mel was checking out the Latest Sightings Whatsapp group and picked up that the Wild Dogs had been seen on the S25 opposite Marloth, so we agreed to go find them.
It was past 15h00, so we had to fly at max speed to get there, on the way we passed an OSV looking at Lion, we didn’t even stop or take a pic. When we got to where we guessed the dogs would be, there they were sleeping and only 3 other cars (and no OSVs).
It was 16h00 and two of the cars left to get back to camp. The dogs were starting to wake up.
We had been waiting for the evening greeting ritual to begin and they did not disappoint us.
Then off they went to collect the teenage pups and wake the rest of the pack up

Lovely shots of active doggies, SN!

Then they all started off along the S25 towards Croc bridge, this was the wrong way for us as we were closer to Malelane gate and it was already late. As it had been a while since we had Wild Dog to ourselves, we followed..
The Dog picked up that there was an Impala here ahead an immediately started to spread out on both sides of the road. The pups were sent to an open patch on the right with a few guards to watch them, then suddenly a Hippo darted across the road… but the dogs showed no interest.
The interest was in the Impala herd and the hunt was on, the pack split in three (right, center and left of the road) and all started sprinting...
The Impala scattered and seemed to have eluded the dogs…..
