What an ugly vulture, but the snake eagle indeed doing its job! lol [O]

And unusual ostrich teenagers!

Great giraffe closeups, but my favourite is the Nkaya elephant! O:V
It was a giant but then so peaceful only concentrated on the water O/\

but as it was already late we could not stay longer and returned not to forget to give an elephant bull right of way

Image

and to stop for a couple of marabou storks a bit farer away.

Image

The evening light was more than lovely

Image

and also more waterbucks were not far.

Image

After such a long drive we simply enjoyed the peaceful evening on our verandah with another yummy braai and luckily also the bugs got less but we were visited by a lot of beautiful moths who simply had to be photographed.

Saturday, 15th February 2020 – Satara

Explored roads: H1-4 – S100 – S41 – H6 – S37 – S41 – S90 – H1-4 – H7 – S12 – S40 – H7 – H1-4

Our first drive during our first full day at Satara is leading us always along the S100 and needless to say that it was today the same but for sure such a beautiful sunrise simply had to be captured

Image

especially after the many rainy days we had already.

As also in the past the grass along the S100 was extreme high so not many chances in spotting a lot but for sure the wildebeests did not let us down,

Image

as well as the noisy woodland kingfishers.

Image

Impalas could be seen also plentiful but all of them were covered by flies which must have been extreme annoying

Image

also this cute bushbuck lady who we met next was cluttered with flies.

Image

Image

It was an extreme quiet drive but nevertheless this is one of our favourite roads in Kruger and same can give you everything or nothing – Today it was more or less nothing. At least an African hoopoe sat long enough still and posed nicely on a branch for a couple of decent shots.

Gudzani dam was brimful and after a while we spent there enjoying the silence and view we carried on. For sure the rivers were full and the causeways overflowing.

Image

We spent quite a while with an impressive waterbuck male who was more than willing to pose in the high grass

Image

Image

and for sure stopped at another causeway and even discovered a bit in the distance a squacco heron.

Image

We saw Egyptian goose in a dead tree

Image

and had luck in finding a couple of amur flacons in several trees

Image

Image

one even started to play with a branchlet and we had a great time in observing and photographing same.

Image

We simply love these small falcons they are so cute.

Image

A lot of giraffes were hanging around as well and for sure they were again extreme hungry

Image

and enjoyed the acacia leaves.

Image

to be continued……
