9 Male Lions at Orpen

Post by Blommie »

There are moments in life that will never be forgotten...

....yesterday morning at a view area just past Bobbejaan Krans on the H7 about 26 kilo's from the gate there was a confirmed sighting of 9 Male Lions drinking water from the Timbavati River.

My mom and myself started our day from Tamboti camp and left the camp with the usual convoy of vehicle.

One of these vehicle (a white Mercedes A1) passed us on the H7 so when we saw them standing at the viewpoint we also stopped (the A1 car told us later we missed two males that went into the bush).

We then saw a steady procession of beautiful Males moving up the huge sandbank towards the northern bush section with one particular male staying on the sand bank greeting every single Male walking pass him and indicating to us there's more lions down at the water by his looking back and forth between the bush and the water.

When they were out of sight the boys started roaring...there are no words to describe...none.

We told a latecomer from Tzaneen about the roaring and that they should stay and try and listen for them. We left for Satara and that's where the Tzaneensers -O came to us and thanked us because a 9th MALE came from the southern side 0- crossed the road and roared for it's compadres.

Here are pics of 6 out of the 9
I would love to know more about them.
Just image if you got these boys all in the road......I'm still in shock.

I LOVE KRUGER NATIONAL PARK!!!

What a great sighting Blommie...tx for sharing!! \O \O

It looks as if they are being seen quite regularly in the same area. These pics were both posted in the Kruger Park FB page.
