Hi Green Humans,
Most of you know that the alien family with my heavy (brother in law) and his son took a short, but ended up being longer bush trip during December.
To take you back into history we had a braai at home on Tuesday 6 December and after everyone else went to bed at about 10pm me and my heavy were still enjoying a few beers. So the topic changed to Kruger and we chatted about previous trips. My heavy told me he has never been to Kruger before,
And then I jumped up, fetched the I-pad and started checking availability......
The next moment I've asked him if he would be interested in visiting Kruger this coming weekend....... YES he said and so the trip started
Mrs. Alf only found out the next morning that she needs to start with the packing, because we are leaving Friday morning 9 December at 2am.
So the Wednesday morning I phoned and made the booking for 2 nights at Letaba and 2 nights at Mopani. Very surprised to get accommodation this time of year.
It was a rush to get everything sorted in such a sort time but we managed to leave home at 2:05am Friday morning.
So please join me on another alien space trip

Re: Short alien trip arranged (over a few beers)
I decided to enter Orpen gate for a few reasons. Number one reason was to check if my beautiful ladies were back at work and the second reason was to show my heavy and his son a bigger area of Kruger.
The road just outside Lydenburg were still bad. They were taking out patches to fix the road but just left it like that.
Some patches were very deep
The temperature were rising on our way to Kruger. Just after 8am and it was already 36 degrees
We arrived at Orpen gate and saw no beautiful ladies. Very good news indeed.
Mrs. Alf went to reception but the lady working there were obviously in no mood to work and told us to drive past the petrol station to the next boom gate and they will help us there...... Never experienced this before.
There they gave us a form to fill in and Mrs. Alf made a mistake on the reservation number which caused some confusion.
Eventually found the mistake and all was well.
This poor camera were hanging upside down
We stopped at Orpen camp and found my great friend Ezrom so we ended up having a very long chat..........
Eventually we entered the park...........................................

What a adetailed startup, Alpheus!
Sorry about your ladies, but what can one do?
Maybe the camera is meant to be upside down?
They have been building that Bambi-Lydenburg road for two years and 2 contractors now...

Had to explain how we ended up going to Kruger because our plan was to stay home in December.Richprins wrote:What a adetailed startup, Alpheus!

Re: Short alien trip arranged (over a few beers)
The road were very quiet animal wise but at that time the veld were very dry.
The temperature kept rising
Nsemani dam were dry. No water in it, but according to reports received rain the next day
We arrived at Satara for a toilet break and to check the sightings board. Almost no grass left.
Looking at the webcams now one can see how lovely green it is. So they obviously received lots of rain after we have passed
We still had a long way to go.
At Ngotso the road were closed as previously discussed on the forum. They have erected this board
