You are so clever with the birds, all sizes and colours and also some not very common ones. I wonder if you communicate with them :-? lol lol

A birdie evening and a mammal morning, with stunning scenery inbetween, Pumbaa!

Interesting you say you slept well despite there being no aircon? :-? \O

The sunbirds are difficult to photograph, for some reason, so my favourite! [O]
Yes, somehow we slept well - I do not why but obviously we were extreme tired :-?

All in all it was a very quiet morning but at least a smaller crocodile appeared in one of the many ponds we could found at the many causeways we crossed

Image

and to our delight we spotted a larger group of ground hornbills

Image

close to the road

Image

and later on one after the other crossed the road only to return later to the side they just came from

Image

and we also noticed a juvenile amongst them.

Image

Today we even drove to the hippo pools and the view is always lovely there and back on the last part of the S25 there are always large group of zebras and wildebeests around and so it was this morning.

Image

Close to where we stood with the car two of them were fighting

Image

and Timon took quite a lot of pictures from their battle.

Image

On top lots of cattle egrets were around as well

Image

and some even close enough for some close ups

Image

whilst the wildebeests were still busy with their fight.

Image

As always the many dead trees in that area were hosting a lot of white backed vultures and then it was already time for a short and final break at Crocodile Bridge camp.

Image

We left Gesanftombi dam due to the dryness behind and turned into the S28 and we did not drove far when we got stuck once again in a traffic jam – a bit farer away a lioness was lying on a rock

Image

in the bright sun and it had already heated up although it was still quite early.

Image

It must indeed have been quite uncomfortable for her on her throne but she had the opportunity to walk in the shade.

Image[

The spot itself was not easy to photograph as you had to look through a hole in the dense vegetation and as nothing happened and moreover no other lions were visible we carried on but nevertheless it was great having found her again on her throne.

Image

The impalas already started to gang up under the bushes or trees in the shade and very close we spotted an impala ram full of flies

Image

and a bush view shot from one of our favourite roads was also a must.

Image

to be continued……
