At Leeudril we saw this bird - I believe it is a sub-adult Southern Masked Weaver, but I am open to correction.

And a black headed heron was enjoying the waterhole.

Phew! Made it! \O

Lisbeth, not the double tail, but that is a nice touch! \O
Mel - partly right! O** The action....of the red sand! Just love it, just so Kgalagadi to me. O/\ Don't get me wrong, I also like the lion action too, but that red sand is the clincher! :-)

Included in the action - noticed the stirred up sand. \O

Tick for the weaver as well, although not subadult. And tick for the heron. :-0

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Very good, Wanda! ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

The lion probably was a "king"...as pride males generally do the mating?

The lion mating process is extremely drawn out..it can take days and leaves both exhausted, hungry and irritable, more so the male!

For some reason the male's penis is barbed, which makes for an uncomfortable and presumably painful experience for the female, hence the "klap" that get's handed out! O**

There are various theories about this!

The males are utterly obsessed during this marathon, and are to be treated with caution!
