Re: Having the Time of my Life revisited (October 2016)
nan... got distracted by breakfast Still a few photos left
Our sighting of Barolong lasted about 10 minutes before we lost her for good. Another 15 minutes down the road I noticed a movement at the bottom of the dunes on the far side of the riverbed. I knew instantly that there was something special, that it wasn't any of the often seen animals. But with the corrugated roads and the general movement of the car anyway, it took me quite a bit to make out what it was. Once I had comprehended, I said to Spots: "There is the next one." No surprise that the SO didn't have a clue what I was talking about, so I had to get more specific. "There's another leopard..." And then hell broke loose. This was the first time ever that we had seen two leopards in daylight in the KTP - AND in such a short time frame as well! I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E !!!

We had found Miera again Unfortunately, she hadn't brought her two cubs with her that day, but I was still more than happy to see just her Miera is one of the few leopards who has often treated us to excellent sightings and that day wasn't any different
She moved into the riverbed
Checking those round green shrubs that you'll find occasionally in the riverbed -I seem to connect them to Craig Lockhardt, but this sighting was down around Batulama.

Obviously, she couldn't find any tasty animal resting in there, so she moved on - coming closer and closer to the road

Fantastic contrast in the "Miera" pics, but she does not not look too well fed either Maybe she is only hungry

Pumbaa, we certainly were totally spoiled with this particular sighting!
Lis, since I have the direct comparison between Miera and Barolong, I can tell you that Miera did very well for herself and her cubs. She was alert and active
RP
nan, there is a good chance that you'll get to see Miera this time around, with her having two cubs who are also old enough to roam the riverbed with their mum
