So, we're now on our way up towards Grootkolk again. Approaching Cubitjie I was hoping for a raptor party seeing it was raptor'o'clock in the Kalahari but we found the waterhole void of any animals. Just a few kays further on, however, this bloke had moved into the shade of some flimsy bush

Since he was so close, I couldn't resist the paws lol

On our way back we had wanted to have our breakfast (ja, we're always that late...) at some waterhole. Kwang would be the best option for the shade but alas, no water. So we carried on to Bedinkt. When we were almost finished we noticed car after car coming from Nossob racing past us in northern direction. We were sure someone had passed the news about some good sighting, judging by the speed with which the cars were travelling (definitely not 50 0' ). Unimpressed, we finished our meal before getting on our way again. 2.6 km later we found the reason for the urgency.

Since we were the last to arrive, we had to settle in for the wait to get into prime position. But eventually, we were all alone with her.
At least for some time. :-0

We had bumped into Safran again O\/ She had been very relaxed and only the passing springboks on the other side in the riverbed got her excited every now and then. But after 45 min of baking in the sunshine we had to declare defeat and moved on.

I'm sure we missed her on our way down. But we did check the view when approaching that tree from the south. Safran would have looked like an ordinary branch

At Polentswa there was finally a small gathering of 4 bateleur in total ^Q^

And even the owl was more cooperative than in the morning.

Kieliekrankie was on its best behaviour. We've seen more specials there over our two day stay than we have on all other nights there combined. Amongst others - which I have photos of, so won't tell here quite yet - was yet another caracal …

Polentswa is both lol Waterhole accessible from the SA side, but the camp side and the luxury lodge are beyond the border in Bots.
And as far as I know there is another waterhole for the luxury lodgers O**
