Even the rhinos playing hippos...almost It's a lovely pic with all the sacred ibises around
What a sad moth story I am sure that you would have another try if the situation should occur again
Cute new wildebeests

Bad luck with the moths and butterflies you have, Flutts!
The bookings sound a bit fishy there, maybe we should start a maintenance thread!

Re: Our Pilanesberg Adventures
Not fair - after all that trouble to save the moth a vervet has it as a starter.
That hippo certainly has organised itself a lovely place to stay - water, reeds and shade.
The little wildebeest were too cute. Wonder how many will survive this terrible drought we are having.

The wildebeest were tiny. Yes Lis, I would save another fluttermoth if given the chance.Lisbeth wrote:Even the rhinos playing hippos...almost It's a lovely pic with all the sacred ibises around

Ja, the booking sounds like it could be run by SANParks!Richprins wrote:

I was not impressed with that vervet! We saw some really thin wildebeest. There is still quite a lot of water around but grazing doesn't look so good.steamtrainfan wrote:Not fair - after all that trouble to save the moth a vervet has it as a starter.

Re: Our Pilanesberg Adventures
The following morning Bea and I were up early to be back in the park when the gates opened... we left the kids behind.
We headed up Kgama Drive which was very quiet except for a few birds.
Black-shouldered Kite
Sabota Lark (I think)
Fawn-coloured Lark
Violet-eared Waxbill
An impala with a broken horn
Another little willie!
Roadblock!
White-fronted Bee-eater
We then headed to Makorwane Hide where we were able to sit for a while without kids nagging to leave.
Another bee-eater.

Nothing beats a peaceful time at Makorowane hide.
Lovely birdies and the small willie.
We have yet to see a Violet-eared Waxbill.

Beautiful birds with the last bee-eater taking the first price even if the violet-eared waxbill has some lovely colours
