Thanks everyone. We found a dead tree, we just keep adding perches from the bits of the dead tree for the darlings to balance.

I live in a large complex in Gauteng. and manage to see some nice birds. The one eluding me, is the hoopoe seen it once

We have spotted "our" Spotted Eagle Owl on several occasions since posting the first photo and then, this morning, looking out a window he flew from the roof, settled in a tree lower down our garden and then flew back settling on a branch right in front of the window.

I remained frozen until he moved some two meters away where he made himself comfortable to spend the day.

I slowly moved away but he did not seem bothered and grabbing a camera I went to the far side of the house from where Mt Owl was visible and took number of photos while he was preening his feathers, yawning now and the and having a good scratch below both his ears.
