pleased to see the baobab still there
and the tree line higher than the roof
the future is not what it used to be

Re: Skukuza Hotel Progress (Kruger National Park)
Leachy says that we have to be objective Sorry leachy, I do not like it anyway! It is not so much the building in itself, but the trend behind it. Skukuza is already so big, noisy and populated that in that context it probably will not make much of a difference; it is the whole idea behind it, that is worrying. Skukuza is just the start of the commercialisation. Then comes Malelane, the Phalaborwa HUB, the train, accommodations at picnic sites and who knows what else will follow.
It seems that Kruger has to provide occupation, money, food etc. for the whole province Serious conservation seems to have gone lost at some point and it is not going to return if things go on like it is written in the presentation of the plans for the next five years.

Tourism PPP Opportunity to form a public private partnership whereby SANParks grants a selected private operator the right to operate and manage the Skukuza Safari Lodge in the Kruger National Park
In line with its Strategic Plan for Commercialization, SANParks intends to form a Public Private Partnership (PPP) in terms of which it grants a selected private operator the right to operate and manage the Skukuza Safari Lodge in the Kruger National Park.
SANParks invites prospective investors and operators to submit detailed bids in line with its mandate and objectives for this PPP opportunity. Interested parties will be expected to meet certain minimum criteria in order to qualify.

Re: Skukuza Hotel Progress (Kruger National Park)
One would have thought that would have been sorted already, as the hotel is meant to be finished soon?

I thought that Sanparks was going to run that one and as you both say, it's a bit late to ask for partnership. It takes time to make a deal like that, but maybe they have already done the preliminaries behind the scenes
