Try using Spot metering to expose the subject bird correctly and then in Post reduce the highlights caused by over exposure of the background

Thanks for the advice, I will try next time. But I suppose that you have to shoot in RAW to reduce the overexposure ? I only shoot in Jpeg in order not to have too much work after my holidays
For my picture, I specifically wanted to have only the black silhouette of the birds, and not the detail of the plumage, so I am rather satisfied with the result. But I will follow your advice in other situations (for example a bird high in a tree against a clear sky).
