The last day in the bush
I had only done the S131 From the gate going north once, so I thought that I might be lucky. Nothing of the kind only a couple of buffaloes and even at Ngwenyeni, not even an elephant
If there are no animals to see/photograph around, what do you do you start looking for alternatives
On the H14 I hit gold or was it silver

Re: Enjoying The Kruger Park Without Staying In The Park
A small red car had stopped and the passengers were looking at something that I could not see. They told me that there were a couple of hyenas. They could be seen only from the particular angle where the red car was parked. After a short while they moved away and I moved in. There was an elderly fat female
and a youngster, hardly visible, playing with something
The young hyena got up
Took his toy and jumped into a puddle of water and then the show started.......

From time to time he threw me a glance
And then continued to have fun

Re: Enjoying The Kruger Park Without Staying In The Park
stupid me should have filmed it, I only remembered when it was almost finished
https://youtu.be/d1zmyk77oSo
Finally he had had enough and got out of the water
During the whole fun, the hyena’s and mine, the other hyenas had continued to snore
Another hyena joined the party
And then we were back where we started
It had been one of my best Kruger moments sometimes I was laughing loudly all by myself

I then went to say goodbye to Sable dam
The last sighting was rightly a bushchicken
And a lovely tree
Until next time

Awsome hyena bath
You had a trip with beautiful landscape moments, lots of birds and some cool cats.
And we learned something along the way.

Thank you for a great TR Lisbeth .Loved the Hyena playing in the water episode .They really are characters on their own .We always enjoy seeing them .We have the same issue we had a lovely sighting of some cats and after about 15 minutes reminded the SO that she does have a video camera . I cant believe how much greener the landscapes are after our trip last week where everything was brown and dusty .You forget what the summer scenery is like after being in that environment for a week .

How interesting the termites building up against the rock!
And astounding hyena sequences there, Lis!
So lucky and memorable, as you say.
