Aat and Elly 2019 TR - 5 Surprize in the North
First of all, thanks for all comments and it is time for next story.
05 – Surprizes in the North (part I)
Back again and inviting you all to join me for a nice sighting in one of the northern regions of Kruger NP.
We have a tradition with AWD , African Wild Dogs). So far we have seen AWD every trip and also this time luck was with us. Like the Cheetah sighting it was late afternoon and not far from Mopani camp. A bit later I will proof it was there !
The most wonderful thing about this sighting is that we saw a number of young wild dogs. I remember several years ago new packs were introduced in the north and always hoping they will manage to survive and do well. So it was a real pleasure to see they do !
As said, it was late afternoon and from a distance we saw some small animals on and near the road. Approaching slowly we did see these youngsters.
-
-
Bit by bit we saw more doggies showing up and as I promised , I can proof it was near Mopani. Look at next two pictures and you can see it was near the Confluence Lookout turn-off
-
-
and
-
-
A privilege to have them just for ourselves. Here one of the lovely youngsters.
-
-
As usual with these dogs, when they are not sleeping, they never sit down or stand still , always on the move. Suddenly they all moved into the bush so I was not able to count them.
-
-
It was clear they were in hunting mood, but lucky for us they came back to the road.
One of the young ones was very friendly and curious so a good opportunity to capture this doggie.
-
-
A few seconds later an older one did the same for us
-
-
Suddenly they all start to run towards the riverbed.
-
-
And
-
-
We could not see them anymore and waited a few minutes when out of nothing a group of zebra came out of the riverbed and made a formation on the road.
-
-
The dogs did not really go after them and walked away.
We finally could count them and the “packsize” was 16 !
Just after this they ran away again to the left hand side and disappeared into the bush.
-
-
Mopani is always good for us
Hope you enjoyed it and see you next story , part II , another place and even more a surprize .....

Sorry for not commenting, Aat, but I cannot see your photos, though I am sure that it was an extraordinary sighting

Aat and Elly 2019 TR - 6 4 of a Kind
Thanks all for watching , reading and commenting.
Next trip is almost there so time to add a story about last trip
*** Travel Tales ***
Trip to Kruger NP 2019 New series of Stories
06 – 4 of a Kind
This story is about 4 big boys in the Satara region.
This trip we have seen a many many Lion.
We left Satara and took the S126. Just near the waterhole we found these 4 male lion.
Two of them were really blond and it was great to see how they were bonding.
-
-
A bit of sleeping, standing up , giving a hug
-
-
My first thought it was the white lion around Satara but it was not him. Fascinating to just watch.
-
-
Where they were in the shadow before now the sun was shining directly on them so one of them was standing up and walked away
-
-
It did not take long before the others were following and lucky for us they came closer
-
-
And
-
-
New place and a better look at them. Really beautiful they are
-
-
And
-
-
Spending some time here with this 4 of a Kind was very nice. A last shot before we moved on
-
-
Funny to show this and knowing next trip is almost there
Hope you enjoyed it and see you next story
