Motorists of Limpopo, don’t be alarmed if you look out the window and see that you’re overtaking a commercial aircraft – everything is under control: An Erotel plane is being delivered from OR Tambo up Hoedspruit this week, and traffic officials have warned of ‘likely delays’ across several popular commuter routes.
Is it a bird, is it a plane? What’s that in the slow lane?
The plane is being taken to a more rural location in the Kruger, where it will then have to be reassembled. The route from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit is a five-day trek, and authorities say that the transport team has reached the weighbridge in Polokwane. It will take another 36 hours or so to complete the final leg of the journey.
Between Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning, that means there will be some incredibly slow-moving traffic on the R40, R526 and R71 as the trawl continues. Traffic outside of Polokwane is likely to be disrupted for some afternoon commuters who are finishing their workdays, too.
Limpopo officials issue traffic warning
An aircraft in transit certainly captures the imagination – but mainly, it frustrates a large number of road users. Three years ago, a Boeing 737 was transported across Johannesburg – causing a myriad of delays and traffic issues in the process. Sadly, for drivers in this part of Limpopo, it’s your turn to simply ‘grin and b-air it’.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety have issued this message to locals
“An aircraft marked ‘EROTEL VIP’ – which is in transit through road from OR Tambo to Hoedspruit – is now at the Polokwane weighbridge. The plane loaded on an abnormal truck left OR Tambo on Monday morning. Motorists and other road users are warned that the transit is likely to disrupt traffic.”
“It is envisaged for delivery to Hoedspruit by Friday. The P Munro supervisor on-site, Mr. Mnisi, says all is in order and he’s happy with the cooperation from the law enforcement officials escorting the abnormal vehicle.”

It's going to the Zandspruit Wildlife and Aero Estate, in Hoedspruit. They already have one Boeing there being used as an Hotel.
Sometimes it’s not until you don’t see what you want to see, that you truly open your eyes.

Yes, now it makes sense.........at least to somebody Does the lunch taste better served inside the carcass of an aeroplane than within four normal walls? There must be a shortage of daylight
