And before getting to Mata Mata, another black winged kite.
We pitched camp and once the children arrived from Twee Rivieren, they joined us for the next 3 nights
We had a pleasant drive down to Craig Lockhart that evening, even though all the animals were hiding.

How I wish I was there. Or that I could at least travel for sure in April...
Your photos display such a typical day in the KTP

Tuesday 11th May 2021
The next day ended up being a ‘Birding” day as the animals were few and far between
The birds did not disappoint.
We drove from Mata Mata down south all the way to Aucherlonie and back
On our travels we spotted
Another black winged kite
and a lilac breasted roller

We think it was a juvenile Gabar Goshawk bouncing around in the bushes at Dalkieth
At 14th borehole we finally spotted an African Harrier Hawk to Debbie’s delight

This steenbok was peeping at us from her hiding place on top of a rise
Two Pale Chanting Goshawks were surveying the surrounds from the top of a tree

And then the owls decided to show off
A Giant Eagle owl in a tree near Kamqua
The Barn owls were still in their nest

Back in camp, we were entertained by the resident meercats
And spent the evening in camp and at the hide
