To continue on...

Saturday 4 November 2023

After the overnight rain, we woke up to a crystal clear morning in Nossob, with no dust around, but we did have a very wet tent as well as a squadron or two of mosquitoes in attendance.

We were setting off to Gharagab today, and we needed to store our trailer for two nights, so we took our time collapsing our campsite so that the tent could sort of dry before we folded it all up

The sunrise was spectacular while we were sorting our lives out

We eventually left at about 7.20 and headed north.

Our trip up to Polentswa was great.

Loads of water about, on the road and in the riverbed after last night’s rain

Along the way, we spotted this agama, posing as only an agama can

These sociable weaver’s nests, I thought were pretty awesome

We got to Polentswa and went on to the lodge, where I had previously arranged with them that I could leave our trailer there for two nights, while we were in Gharagab
Driving along the access road to the lodge and seeing the BIG lion paw prints on the road, we wondered if we were doing the right thing. O** O**

In the end it all turned out well though X#X

At Liejerdraai picnic spot we bumped into Roy and Jo, two friends from my running days back in Cape Town. He took a while to realise who I was, in a totally different setting, and we had a great chat for a half hour r so before we headed on

Besides lots of general game we came across these lionesses just past Geinab (just to prove that we had another cat day O/\ )

A windy pit stop at the Union’s End picnic spot was followed by a first for us

Quite an adventure, Gavin...Gharaghab looks damned far from everywhere... O-/

Indeed the social weaver tree is amazing! \O

Those lionesses look in stunning condition. X#X

And water in the desert!
