This sort of thing is extremely depressing, like the theft at Pretoriuskop, but not unexpected at all. While Kruger has been an island of safety and solitude for so many years, it has been warned years ago that there is no reason why it should not eventually succumb to the lawlessness that plagues the rest of the country.

As said under "Be careful What we lose", the public perception of Kruger being a safe haven is alive and well, but should that change, especially amongst foreign visitors who are keenly aware of the rapes, murders and robberies that occur in SA every day, the cash cow may dry up more quickly than one thinks.

The "knock on effect" regarding financial implications for the entire Lowveld, and the country, would be unimaginable.

The point is, Police and SP need to make this sort of thing an absolute and vocal priority, as crooks are waiting to see what the response will be!

RP, the average to useless policeman, no wait, the average management staff, would have immediately informed all exits and the gangsters would have been caught, so I ask “What’s the outcome” as surely these chaps were questioned -O- -O- -O-

My bet is that they just drove out the park and nothing will come of this O**

Dear All

Indeed, this incident was reported to the section ranger at Lower Sabie yesterday immediately after it happend. The section rangers called the police at Skukuza Police Station who are currently investigating the matter. This case is now handled by the South African Police Services.

We would like to thank everyone who made sure that the camp management is aware of this scam. We appeal to everyone to make sure that incidents of this nature are reported immediately.

In other words we didn’t stop them leaving the park or even bother to question them before they left 0-

What makes us think that the thieves left the park at all? Maybe they are employed by SANparks or the SAPS   , we(including myself) treat the Kruger as a place where crime does not happen and we tend to drop our guard when on holiday BUT then isn't that what holiday makers are supposed to do? Along comes Mr/Mrs Thief, they know all the holiday makers have got cash, cameras, laptops, I-Phones, tablets etc and they do what they normally do, they steal because that is what they can do because the Kruger has become a happy hunting ground for thieves 0= 0= , so now when my family and I go to the park in December (peak holiday season) we have to watch all our belongings, lock cars, sleep with bolted doors.............that is what we do in Johannesburg O**
