Liz , I have a friend who had a house up against the mountain , overlooking Lago di Lugano , directly opposite San Salvatore . I visited him often ,spending a few days there just to relax at the end of business trips to Europe \O Have not been there for about 6/7 years :-(

So, the first few days' weather made for only short excursions.

Nevertheless, we did manage to see a few orchid species, including those below, Cypripedium calceolus and Platanthera bifolia.

An Alpine Salamander also put in an appearance on one of our wetter walks.
