The Afrikaans names for these are quite prescriptive : Scrub hare -- Kolhaas - a " kol " is a " white spot " situated in the middle of the forehead .
Cape hare --- is called a " vlakhaas " - prefers open plains savannahs , typical of karoo landscape and avoids brush and scrub , hence the reference to " vlak or vlaktes " -- plains .

By the buff colouring I would say it is a Cape Hare , as against the Scrub Hare which is more grey in colour . Best indication for scrub hare is a white spot on the forehead .....

Purely colourwise , I would again go for Cape Hare . Reddish/buff/brown tinges under the throat and on the back .
The scrub hare normally have grey/blackish hairs intermingled .
