Africa Wild

We saw very few animals during the walk but we know that, besides the rain, a walk is never the best way to get close to wildlife. We hardly had time to catch sight of Impalas, Zebras and Kudus before they fled. We saw 2 male Buffaloes and could approach a bit from behind but they fled too when they perceived us. The only animal I could photograph was this Klipspringer that looked at us for a short while before running away.

During one of our walks, a stop to rest and have a snack along the Luvuvhu River

To get to the Trail Camp, we had to follow the bed of a stream, that apparently flows only when it rains. The conditions were difficult and it was not easy to maneuver the car. When we got in denser vegetation, we bumped into this herd of Elephants. They seemed a bit nervous but not aggressive. Fortunately, they did not turn back and charge because we could not have gone backwards fast.

Maybe the best sighting was near Punda Maria, on the tar road : a couple of Lions. We were told it is not frequent to see them in the far north and that they got used to eat human flesh, as there are regularly illegal migrants that come from Mozambique along the power line that cross the park in that area and rangers discover sometimes human remains...

I just checked, unfortunately there is nothing specific on the Napi nor the Sweni trails

Those two lions are looking straight into your soul ........... or maybe they are much more interested in your bowel

I can imagine you must have been nervous of the elephants on those muddy roads!
