Interestingly enough, bamboo falls in the category of grasses, and can thus be named as the tallest of that particular family..... :shock: (seems like one of my family has recently been to a general-knowledge quiz ^Q^ )

Grumpy,
Grasses and Bamboo both fall within the same family - Poaceae
The growth habit of Grass and Bamboo are completely different. Bamboo branches from the stems which grass doesn't do.

But if you see the flowers of both, you can see why they are related.

Garden Plants & Exotics

Hi All,

I saw this at a garden centre today and couldn't resist. It wasn't cheap.

An Aristolochia of sorts, but I need to do a bit of research first before I can ID it.
Probably one of the Brazilian species

Beautiful. Wonder if you need a heating lamp on chilly days?
