your shrike and it is a male. Hopefully there is also a female so you can get red-backed shrike chicks in a short while. That would be nice

yes there is the same "Common (European) Cuckoo" (migrant), but you have them only in the North East of South Africa and further North
arrived 3 weeks ago at my little pond...
today only heard, I think 2 of them... well hidden
and very similar to the African Cuckoo (but no-migrant

as per the Sasol)
