Sunday 9th May 2021

After seeing the leopards down to the south yesterday and knowing that we were off to Mata Mata the next day, we decided to return to Auchterlonie for our morning drive

Not before at least one photo of the morning at Urikaruus.

We got down as far as Gemsbokplein and bumped into some friends

They were watching some wildebeest in the riverbed

Some of who were not too comfortable about something.

The reason being, the two cubs playing on the far ridge

We watched them for quite a while and eventually they moved a little closer and up into a tree in the riverbed

I'm totally irritated that I cannot figure out who that male cheetah was at Uri 0*\

The sighting was quite far away and after a while, once they seemed to be settled for the day, and the children had joined us from Twee Rivieren, we turned around to go and have breakfast with them back at Urikaruus.

As we bumbled back, we noticed that the barn owls were peeping out of their nest

And at Kamqua, a tower of giraffe was at the waterhole.

Back at camp, after a wonderful lunch with the kids, we decided to stay in for the rest of the day and make the most of the accommodation and setting while we could

Monday 10th May 2021

We decided against going for a morning drive and then returning to Urikaruus to pack as we were keen to get to Mata Mata and secure a camp site, so we left Urikaruus a bit late after packing up and heading north.

Or first sighting of the day was of this black winged kite, one of the many we saw on the Auob side
