Today proved to be our last really uneventful day of our holiday
Not that a day in the Kgalagadi is ever uneventful or special, just quieter I suppose



We decided to drive up north as far as Kanagaus, and saw only general game along the way

These included

Some wildebeest

And a pale chanting goshawk

We returned to Polentswa and decided to stay in

The temperature was

After an early afternoon braai, went to the waterhole to see if anything would arrive


Needless to say, nothing did, but we had an amazing time watching the African sun set

On the way home, Debbie took this photo of our “Little home in Africa”

You always get days in the Kgalagadi where you see very little, but then you get days when the place rocks

Our last morning at Polentswa before heading off to Rooiputs for the last 4 days of our holiday

We woke to the sound of lions roaring far in the distance, and a bit later experienced this sunrise.

We decided that before starting to pack up the camp, we would take an early drive down to the waterhole.
You never know what you may see

We spent a bit of time watching this jackal trying to get an early breakfast
Either he was still half asleep (and the doves weren’t), or he still needs a lot of practice

After a while, with time pressing on, we went back to camp to start packing up.

We were about half way finished when Debbie spotted a male lion walking across the pan in the direction of the waterhole

Well the packing up stopped, and we were back in the bakkie on the way back to the waterhole


When we got there, a few other cars had arrived, and we tried to work out as to where to park, trying to guess as to where he would arrive from

Well we got it a bit wrong, and in my excitement, I pointed him out to another vehicle, who promptly blocked our view.

We did manage to get some shots of him, but none of him drinking... Just bum views

He eventually walked away back into the riverbed, and we returned to camp to finish packing up
