Mel the Botswana Parks are different to Sanparks, and as far as I know they mainly do camping.
There are plenty of lodges within Bots Parks and I think most of them are not self catering. I stand
to be corrected! Senyati, for instance has self catering chalets.
There is a lady in Maun, involved with tourism who has all the answers. I will find out her name and
contact details and let you know.

Mel the person to contact is Tara Lee Goosen, of www.botswanafootprints.com. They also have a facebook page with the
same name. She is very helpful and can do bookings for you and give you any information you need.

Hi Okie
We loved the little bit of Bots that we saw. We couldn't get into the delta and even some of the roads along the Chobe
were flooded. That's why we are going back next year. What did strike us is the lack of litter. There is a 'no littering'
law in Bots. So there were no bottles, chip packets etc all along the roads and even in the towns there was generally
no papers etc lying around. Fantastic ^Q^ ^Q^

We didn't see as much game as we thought we would, lots of ellies, but too much water lying around. The game didn't
need to come to the river.

Looks like some nice shade too! ^Q^

Ja, those lions and hyenas make a terrible racket when they start up!
Not cheap Richprins , but they have no objection to you taking your own drinks!!
Lots of shade. A bit difficult for photos with half shade, half sun!!

Some more pics from Senyati. The concrete slab in the pic is the front of the hide.

Maybe mum's milk will taste better than the water!!

After a drink a mud bath is the order of the day before heading off back to the bush.

The fountain is only switched on when the elephants are there.

We also stayed at Senyati Pooky. Such fond memories of the Elephant herds coming to drink. Sundowners on the deck was fabulous! \O

No Lion activity when we were there but i heard a Leopard calling from very close by on the last night. And hundreds of Buffalo.

Short answer Mel - No! Things are run very different in Botswana. It is tricky to do cheaply if you can't camp. Even the camping within the parks is not cheap by SanParks standards!

If you go to the Chobe riverfront you will have to stay outside the park in or around Kasane (such as Senyati Safari Camp where Pooky stayed). The Okavango Delta is tough if you can't afford $500-1000 USD per night. The best place I know of is Khwai Guesthouse just outside North Gate at Moremi Game Reserve ("outside the park" there is irrelevant - no fences so just as much game outside the park as inside). Nxai Pan was also fantastic to visit but i don't know of any cheap accommodation.
