Re: Social distancing in the Kgalagadi Oct/Nov 2020
Thanks everyone for all the feedback. Apologies once again for the delay in posting this episode
In past trips to the Kgalagadi, Kamfersboom has often produced some amazing sightings for us
(Well I suppose you can say that applies to most waterholes in the Kgalagadi, but anyway!)
So we decided to pay Kamfersboom a visit.
When we got there all was quiet, except for a vehicle travelling really slowly towards the waterhole from the south
We had to investigate.
A large male lion was busy walking up the river bed
We watched as he came closer
And then eventually drank

After quenching his thirst he carried on. We hoped that he would come onto the road, but that was not to be
Instead he went around the little koppie just north of Kamersboom and the reason was
To meet up with his partner in crime, Silver Eye
What a surprise!!
They eventually settled down out of sight behind the rise, and we decided to return to camp

We spotted some secretary birds along the way,
And the Lilac breasted roller at Craig Lockhart was out and about again

Debbie and Gavin it's a real pleasure to follow your travel around the park
nice pictures, super sightings
the last pictures I saw of (from) "my" friend One eye (silver eye) were so bad.... he was dying, we can see only the bones ...has "played" with Porcupine, and no news for (since) about 2-3 weeks... it's so sad
thank you and please continue
