Go for it Peter! With your advanced photography skills, I’m certain you will master this in no time. One very big plus concerning macro is you can do it in your own back yard, area parks and wilderness areas, so no need for expensive trips. “Everybody” has lions, elephants, etc., but not so many have seen the tiny treasures of nature. I certainly look forward to your posting your first pics here…
Sis, we stayed at Selva Verde Lodge and rainforest reserve, a couple hours drive from San Jose and took trips from there when not photographing in the property itself. It’s quite lovely. That was 9+ years ago, so I’ve learned a lot about macro since then…(sure wish my skills had been better as it was such a rich environment for same).
Will throw in a few more here:

Maybe not as perfect as these days... but still stunning, Ex

Re: Macro Photography
The leaf cutting ant is impressive I have of course seen them in documentaries, but the photo shows the enormity of the leaf compared to the size of the ant

Re: Macro Photography
It's been awhile since anyone posted here, so how about some pics of horseflies (all from Florida):
Ok, ok, hold down the excitement out there, I know it can be overwhelming....
