When small Streams turn into Rivers
Re: When small Streams turn into Rivers
The waterbuck's antlers are quite magnificent, but the rollers with the beetles are really great action-in-motion captures.

Lots of birdie eating, Pumbaa, with great shots!
I simply love the waterbuck bull, what a beaut!
The H6 seems to be more productive since years ago?

The road can be quiet but on other days it is completely different there

Re: When small Streams turn into Rivers
A tawny eagle posed nicely
and at Nsemani dam we spotted an African harrier hawk quite close to where we parked
and luckily same stayed there long enough so we could take masses of pictures
and then we again hit the jackpot or better to say we speculated to at least see another glimpse of them a pack of wild dogs came running into our direction already followed by a couple of cars.
If we had knew we will meet them again we would never stayed yesterday that long at that sighting
in the beginning they steadily came running into our direction
some disappeared on the roadside in the high grass only to re-appear somewhere else again on the road.
As long as they were running into our direction we drove steadily backwards
but after a while and we hoped so a couple of them laid down on the roadside
and they got a bit more relaxed as in the beginning also not that much cars were around them.

Re: When small Streams turn into Rivers
Meanwhile they calmed down and they got extreme relaxed
and nearly all of them started to lay down so in the end they dotted the whole road
and from nearly everywhere they could be watched and photographed
it was such a wonderful sighting and we enjoyed same so much.
A couple of cars were obviously in a hurry and needed to drive back to the gate in Orpen but luckily the cars did not block the road so the bumper chasers could pass
and also the wild dogs did not bother them. They meanwhile started to remove each other the ticks
as they were cluttered with ticks most of them they had on their ears.
We had such a wonderful 30 minutes with them and they still were lying quite relaxed on the roadside but as meanwhile more and more cars arrived and we got meanwhile our shots
we left the wild dogs and were so thankful that they presented themselves so willingly and close.
to be continued……………..

What a wild dog bonanza, Pumbaa!
Nice to see them interacting and staying in sight!
Interesting the one with the damaged ear.
I like the gymnogene with the pinkish face, normally they are yellow.

Re: When small Streams turn into Rivers
Superb Wild dog sighting and sequence There must have been around a thousand cars there
I also love the African Harrier Hawk. IMO the skin around the eyes is kind of rose-yellow and sometimes it looks more rose and vice-versa.
