This species forms massive clumps if you let it.
The best way of propagating it is to cut off a small piece of rhizome with one or two culms (technical word for canes). And then let it get established in a pot.
So I bought this plant a few weeks ago looking as it does. You can see some of the new culms on the left of the plant.

I have recently begun growing ferns quite extensively.

This is one of my favourites
Pellaea calomelanos.
Quite wide spread in SA.

This is one of the Xeric ferns. Doesn't grow in damp shade like most ferns do.
But grows in sunny rocky locations. Can take drying out.
