Lis wrote on the other bird quiz thread about the difference between the Juvenile Pale-chanting Goshawk and African Marsh Harrier.....

"African marsh harrier has yellow legs and they are shorter than those of the PCG. The posture is different; the PCG is more errect. The breast and above all the stomach and thigh patterns are different ( PCG has stripes)."

Which is correct. The legs are also much thinner in AMH and the bird is slimmer looking overall. In flight, the wings and tail appear longer and thinner, and are less marked than in PCG.

Steppe Buzzard can be ruled out immediately by eye colour alone, with structure and build also differing. The underparts patterns are also a good pointer. Steppe Buzzard also has shorter legs.
